Interview - With Matthew Wu(Hong Kong)
1. How would you describe your role within your family?
-My role is to show respect to my parents and look out for my little brother.
2. How would you describe your role within your school?
-My biggest role is to study hard. I also have to have good relations with my fellow students, and work hard as the president of my volunteering club.
3. What do you think will happen to you when you die?
-I don't really believe in heaven and hell or reincarnation.
4. How do you feel about the various social hierarchies in your life?
-I think that some forms of social hierarchies are necessary in maintaining order in society. However other types of hierarchies are unnecessary.
5. How do you cope with problems in your life(do you choose to think about ways to solve them, or do you empty your mind and not worry)?
-I try not to worry but I end up thinking to much about it and get stressed out. I still think that trying to find a way to solve the problem is better than doing nothing about it.
6. Have you ever been exposed to any Asian variants of medicine, lifestyle, etc. that you normally do the "western" way?
-Sometimes my mother took me to oriental hospitals where I had acupuncture. I also visited a Korean fortune teller with our friends while I was in Korea.
7. To you, is there a God?
-I don't really believe in one but I am not sure about my religion yet.
8. How have you interacted with nature?
-When I was young my family went hiking in the mountains nearby for fresh air and to revitalize our bodies.
9. What is your attitude towards people with other religions?
-My father is a Buddhist and my mother is a Christian but they both show tolerance to other religions. I was raised up in this environment so I don't really care what other people believe.
10. What is your idea of the ideal society?
-People know how to act on their own for the good of the society so that rules or laws aren't necessary, and everyone gets a say in government decisions.
